The Team Behind The Stage

Group Dynamics Welcome back beautifuls for todays blog we will be talking how our group worked together so far in this project. When choosing my group mates I already new them so I already had an idea what it would be like to work with them. But let's actually talk about how it did end up working out for us. Let's get to it! First of all I think overall our group dynamic has been great, I feel like everyone managed to contribute with their own knowledge and creativity. I also feel that I managed to get even closer with my group members as after all we not only hung out during class but we also spent lot of time outside of school for this project, I think this contributed to  how we could comfortably share ideas between each other and discuss everyone's idea on how to approach this project which is an important aspect when it comes to working together to make sure no one gets unheard. Sometimes we had some miscommunication but it didn't end up creating any major proble...

The Progress of Fast-Fashion Welcome back guys for todays blog post! Today we will be talking about our overall progression of out project of how it is going, things we need to get done and all that good stuff. So let's jump right to it! First of all we did got a lot of things done. So as you guys know we are doing a movie opening project, where we film a two minute long movie opening, we decided to do a coming of age movie about a teenage girl, Gigi, who is just turning 18 however her mother has sadly past away and her father is not very much present due to work. The movie is about Gigi's personal development of self growth and learning grievance while also learning how to be and adult by herself.  To start off after a lot of brainstorming we made our story board and damn that sure took up a lot of our time. As for the drawings I was responsible doing them and for the descriptions two other of m group members finished it off. This made our filming day be more efficient since w...

Lighting Of The Stage

Image
Lights on the Runway Welcome back beautifuls for todays blog an today we will be going over the lighting used in our project. Lighting is important aspect when it comes to film making as it can help convey the mood of a scene and set a tone. For example, a low-key lighting can create a more serious mood, mostly used in thrillers, or horror movies. While on the other hand a high-key lighting can create a more uplifting mood which is mostly used in comedy or rom-coms. Moreover there are lightings that can help emphasize characters from the background such as three-point lighting where the main light shines at the subject with a fill light that comes from an angle of the subject to fill any sharp shades, and finally a light coming from the back of the character and this is what will really separate the character from their surroundings. Furthermore, there are also things to talk about such as what color light we want to use, a more natural light? or artificial light? So lets get to our gr...

Editing The Collection

Image
Editing The Canvas Welcome back beautifuls for todays blog and today we will be talking about editing we used in our project. For most of the editing my group member Thus was responsible. The software we use for our editing is capcut, it is a convenient app we can use as everyone in our group is similar with it so if we need to all of us can help out here and there, it is also a very see through app and just easy to use it so it makes our editing a lot more efficient. We did not use much effects for our blog only some lighter effects in scenes we thought the lighting needed some tweaking. As for transitions we mostly use dissolve as it fits the nostalgic vibe of the movie opening between scenes, we also used some straight cuts as well without any special transition, we just though it fits some scenes better that do not need any transitions. We also decided to add some sounds later on after doing the foley stage which was mostly done by Minh, so we only need to edit in the sounds to ma...

Title Of Vouge

Title Of The Magazine Welcome back my beautifuls for todays blog. Today we will be talking about the title sequencing in our project.  At first we had some struggle figuring out how we wanted to do our title sequencing there were lots of ideas at first, so lets discuss this: The first title sequencing we were thinking about how we wanted to include video playing that Gigi is watching that has her and her mother together with memories, and with a dissolve method we would include the title sequencing as the video is going through all the memories Gigi and her mom had. However we ended up scratching the idea of including this video so consequently we could not use this title sequencing.  Kinda similar to the previous idea, we were thinking including a scene in the beginning where Gigi is flipping through a photo and as she is flipping through the pages, on each page the title sequencing would appear. However similarly like the previous scene we ended up cutting this scene out. T...

Sound of Fabrics

Sound In The Changing Room  Welcome back my beautifuls in todays blog post we will be talking about the type of sound we used for our project. As some of you may know sound is one of the most important roles in movie making. Sound can enhance the storytelling and engaging of the audience. Sound effects bring realism to the movie such as footsteps or creaking doors. Also using music can underscore emotions and can help setting the mood of scenes whether it be a tense moment or a romantic tone. Additionally, silence can be used as an impactful tool as well as it can be used to create suspense. So sound is really important in films as without it would leave the audience less engaged and lose depth to the story. So how did we decide to use sound in our project to enhance characteristics of our movie? In the beginning of the movie opening we used a dynamic and joyful soundtrack to play while our main character is getting ready. This gives an elevated and upbringing mood to a scene, sugg...

First Day On The Runway

First Steps As A Model Welcome back my beautifuls for todays blog post! I am excited to announce that we officially started shooting our movie opening, so today I will be sharing how our first day of shooting our project went. I have to say we sure have much fun with it even though we might have ran into one or two obstacles but overall I can call it a success. But let me stop yapping and let us get to it! We arrived at noon at my house to start our shooting to make sure we had a good natural light for the shots, and to have plenty of time to shoot our sense. We used our phone to shoot the scenes and Thu had bought a tripod so we could make our shots more steady and avoid a shaking effect.  We made sure to always shoot near windows since we didn't want to use artificial light to avoid a yellowish lighting so we tries only using natural light that cam through the window. I think this was a great choice as it makes the movie feel more natural and it also gives a colder tone of the s...

Going From Model To Actres

A Fashionista As An Actor Welcome back guys for todays blog post, I wanted to discuss my experience of doing the acting in our project. At first Elliah was going to do the acting but this was changed as she didn't feel like she could do it so I took over the role. I know right? Me as an actor? I felt a bit nervous about this at first since I didn't have any experience in this field. Acting is a really important component of a movie. A good actor can make a movie amazing and create a character that the watcher feels close to and can understand their feelings eve simply by facial mimics. On the other hand a bad acting can almost ruin a movie, if the actor cannot make the watcher connected with their character it can create a shallow effect making the whole movie distant for the watcher. So best believe I felt pressured and responsible for doing such an important aspect for our project. At first I was definitely nervous, What is I can't portray the character well? What if my ...

The Backup Of The Models

Image
Backup  team of the runway  Welcome back beautifuls for todays blog post! Today we will be discussing out groups choice of supporting character.  In the movie opening there is actually no supporting character appearing visually, there is a significant message from a supporting character, Gigi's dad, following a voicemail that starts to shape the storyline of the movie as well as the first time the watcher is introduced to another side of Gigi, which is anger she feels. We first see  Gigi's and her dads relationship, and see the resentment Gigi feels for her father being more absent, while on the other hand we can assume from the tone of the voicemail that her father does care for Gigi and feels sorry for not being there for her. We choose to do this to emphasize Gigi's loneliness, furthermore the including of the family picture emphasizes the sadness of the character as she is reminded of the tragedy of loosing her mother. By her getting ready for her birthday alone...
