Sound In The Changing Room

Welcome back my beautifuls in todays blog post we will be talking about the type of sound we used for our project.

As some of you may know sound is one of the most important roles in movie making. Sound can enhance the storytelling and engaging of the audience. Sound effects bring realism to the movie such as footsteps or creaking doors. Also using music can underscore emotions and can help setting the mood of scenes whether it be a tense moment or a romantic tone. Additionally, silence can be used as an impactful tool as well as it can be used to create suspense. So sound is really important in films as without it would leave the audience less engaged and lose depth to the story.

So how did we decide to use sound in our project to enhance characteristics of our movie? In the beginning of the movie opening we used a dynamic and joyful soundtrack to play while our main character is getting ready. This gives an elevated and upbringing mood to a scene, suggesting to the audience that it is more of a special day, and it may enlighten the audiences mood as well making them more focused and interested int he movie. Then as the movie progresses right after Gigi's Dad calls that he cannot make it to her birthday, the music playing in the back fully stops. This gives a sudden and tense feeling to the scene and suggests Gigi's emotional state to the reader how it went from happy and joyful to a gloomier more sad feeling this can grab the attention of the watcher as there's a really sudden shift in mood. After this we decided not to add any music to keep a cold and lonely tone throughout the movie opening. The only things that can be heard are diegetic sound that a lines with the scenes such as footsteps. However we added these sounds through a foley stage as during the filming there were sounds in the background that we could not control so we decided to add sounds later on.

Now how did we do all of this? One of my group members Thu, she used capcut to put everything  together and make the finishing touches as she has the most experience with editing out of all the group members and she did a wonderful job. When doing our foley stage me, Minh and Thu worked on it at my house, by the three of us doing it we managed to wrap things up pretty quick and get the desired sounds we wanted.

That is ti for today my fellow fashionistas. Stay tuned for more blog posts to find out more about our project! And don't forget to leave a comment, I always love reading the feedbacks, Bye!
