Brainstorming the Fashion ideas
Brainstorming in Style
Welcome back my beautifuls! In todays blog I will be talking about our group ideas for our moving opening! The first step to creating our movie opening is to brainstorm and think through how we want to approach this project. We sure did come up with lots of ideas, so let's get right into it!
The first thing we had discussed is what genre did we want to do. At first I was thinking using horror as a genre, it seemed like and interesting genre to work with and could be really entertaining. However after some more thinking I kind of distanced myself from this idea as I felt like this genre just wasn't my style and I wanted to do work with something I can relate to more and more to my fitting.
After rethinking about doing a horror movie an idea popped up from one of my group members, and immediately became a fond of it! She suggested that we do a coming-og-age movie opening. I think the best way about doing this genre is we can relate to it as well since we are teenagers as well, this could give us a good perspective on the ideas and storytelling we want to create. Now there are lots of ideas that we can talk about when it comes to this genre:
What kind of mood do we want to create? I personally feel like a more nostalgic and somewhat sadder opening would be
the best as it could be more touching to the watcher. Creating a sense of loneliness is essential for this purpose, being a teenager can make you feel lonely at times which is exactly what I think we should show, this could feel relatable to watcher as well as sympathizing with the character we want to portrait. Of course I would also think about what if we do a more joyful vibe to it, this could also work, as making the watcher have a more happy and satisfactory experience while watching the film opening can be a positive characteristic of the film. To create such a mood I think more acting would be required as well as lighting would also be a an important factor to create that warmth feeling. There are some pros and cons with working with this genre so let's take a look into that as well:
Some pros of this genre would be that it doesn't require difficult technical setting and effects, a coming-of-age genre is about real life so the setting could be done at one of my group members house. So the set up would not be difficult. Moreover, this genre as I mentioned is more relatable which could help when constructing the opening it self, it can also be more appealing to a bigger audience since everyone was a teenager at one point.
Some cons to this genre however is creating the right mood is essential, since the visuals are close to real life without extra effects the mood created is what makes the film opening itself interesting to the watcher. This can be more challenging and potentially could ruin the entire opening if not done right, but I guess that's a risk we have to take.
Well that is it for todays blog! Stay tuned for more ideas and processes, and be sure to comment any ideas you guys have!
