Evaluating Past Fashionistas
Rate the Fits
Welcome back my beautifuls to todays blog! We will be reviewing some past students works and I will also be giving my feedback on it. This will be a great opportunity to evaluate takeaways to what to not or to include in my own project. So let's get to it!
Roll Call
The first video is titled "Roll Call" I really enjoyed the idea behind this video. It was really creative and interesting how they spiced their story up right in the beginning. However, the visuals and sounds were lacking a bit. First, the camera used made the video dull colored and bad quality. Moreover, the sound was also not the best. Lacking in these areas really took away from the enjoyment of the video. So overall I will definitely be looking into my project in a more out of the box way, similarly how they did, but I would concentrate on the quality of my video better.
New Everything
The second film opening is titled "New Everything" I have to say it was lacking in creativity a lot more compared to the previous students work. Also the transitions used lowered the videos quality, it just didn't feel fitting. The video quality was not really good either. The camera was shaking a lot which made the overall video less enjoyable, I would have used a tripod or something to keep the camera more steady. Even though in some scenes a shaking camera can look good it was just not fitting for this video. In my project I definitely would focus on editing techniques a lot more as well as using a steady camera set up.
Dreamland
The third video titled the "Dream Land" was quite pleasing. The beginning was really creative by using a reverse video effect, it made the video a lot more unique than the others. The visuals were also pleasing, they used a good filter to use for the video, so overall their editing skills were on top. One thing I could have done differently is the ending of the video, it did not prefer the cut to the supermarket because it just felt out of place and confusing a bit, I would have preferred if it continued with the same style as the beginning.
Dear Lover
The fourth video we will be reviewing is called "Dear Lover" I liked the concept of this video however right off the bat that struck my attention is the acting sadly not in a good way. It didn't feel genuine like I was actually watching a movie opening. Also the camera angles sometimes felt out of place for some scenes and could have been positioned better. The entire movie opening feels a bit boring especially when considering visuals, and it also just simply felt like a scene out of a movie instead of an opening for a movie. Overall, I would appeal more visually to the audience to grab their attention right in the beginning of the movie.
Dare to Thrill
The fifth and last video we are going to be looking at is called "Dare to Thrill" I have to say this was one of my favorite videos we watched so far. The pace of the video is good, the visuals and camera used is excellent, a lot of transitions used were greatly matched to the scene and made the whole video really smooth. The acting was also pleasing, it was like I'm actually about to watch a movie. The story of the video also grabs the attention of the viewer I was immediately focused on the story. Overall I really like it!
